Well !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I now have a new go to when nothing else is happening at work (and sometimes when things are happening...) and have now gotten to the point where I am testing this sweet dual motor chassis...

This is where I'm at.
It really seems to be the optimal setup. Also it's worth nothing I am on an "old" version of dream car racing with much less functionality than the one on dreamcarracing.com.
At home I've come up with a few much more complicated designs, but this one seems to be the most effective. I don't believe that a 3rd wheel is necessary either. I've actually gotten further with this design than at home with my complicated design.

So it's Hill Climb Racer with user-buildable cars? Still a rip-off, but not too bad.

What happens to chain tension when the suspension is under compression? I feel like you lined up transmission output with the wrond pivot point.

The game isn't advanced enough to take that into consideration. Although the car does act weird when the engine is in the swing arm position.

Yeah I just downloaded the game... I didn't really know what it was when I commented. But IRL...

My best two - both are dual motor, different set ups though. Red one is a lot faster, but the green one handles the desert and its rocks a lot better
